The things owners ask in the first week. If yours isn't here, email contactus@tablenote.ca — a real person answers.

Getting set up

Where do I add my menu?
Overview → Business info. Paste it in, or use Import from my website to pull it off your own site, or Scan a photo or PDFto photograph a printed one. Scanning a second page adds to what's already there rather than replacing it, so you can do a menu one page at a time.
Why can't I edit my opening hours on the Business info page?
Because they're written for you from your service hours, under Reservations → Hours. There used to be two places to write them and they drifted apart — the assistant would tell a diner you were closed on a night the booking system was happily filling. One set of hours, one place.
How do I say we're closed on Mondays?
Reservations → Hours, then Mark closed on that day. A closed day takes no reservations and the assistant won't offer times on it.
How do I close for a holiday?
Reservations → Hours → Closed dates. Tick Closed on this day every yearfor anything annual — Christmas, Good Friday, Louis Riel Day — and you'll never have to enter it again. Bookings already taken for that date are left alone so you can call those guests yourself.
What is the setup checklist and where did it go?
It disappears once every step is done. Show setup guide on the Overview page brings it back, and it un-ticks itself if you later delete something it was checking.

Your website

How do I put the assistant on my site?
Overview → Get the code, then paste that one line into your site's HTML just before </body>. It works on Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify and hand-built sites. See the install guide for where that box lives in each builder.
I don't have a website yet. Can I still use TableNote?
Partly. The assistant needs somewhere to live, so the widget has nothing to attach to — but everything else works, and your reservations, floor plan and staff screen are all usable on their own. Email us and we'll talk through the options.
What does the website domain field do?
It locks the widget to your site. Until you set it, anyone who copies your embed code can run the assistant on their own site and it counts against your usage. Set it as soon as you go live.

Your staff

How do I get the host stand screen onto an iPad?
Reservations → Staff has a QR code. Point the tablet at it and the screen opens — no typing, nothing to email. Print it and tape it by the pass, then have them add it to the home screen.
Do my staff need accounts?
No. One link and one shared PIN for everyone, which means nothing to set up when someone starts and nothing to revoke when they leave — change the PIN instead.
What can staff do that I can't, and the other way round?
Staff see tonight's book and can seat, check out, no-show, cancel, move a table and add a walk-in. They can't see billing, your menu, or your settings. You can do everything, from Reservations.

Billing

What does it cost?
$79 CAD a month, with no per-cover or per-reservation fees — a busy night costs exactly the same as a quiet one. Cancel from Manage billing on the Overview page.
I paid and it still says inactive.
Stripe confirms the payment a moment after it redirects you back, and the page updates itself while you watch. If it hasn't cleared after a few minutes, email us — your payment is safe and we'll activate it by hand.
